Manny Pacquiao Vs. Timothy Bradley 2

Manny Pacquiao Vs. Timothy Bradley 2: The rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradyley after a controversial win by Bradley in their first match will see its sequel and hopefully the last of it this weekend after the Filipino boxer lost by the decision the first time they met each other.

For Freddie Roach, coach of Pac Man, the match this weekend is huge and a must win for their camp.
"So this is a big, big fight for him. We are in a 'must-win' situation, it's as simple as that. Some people think we are all done and we have to prove that we are not."
The boxer-turned-governor's camp said that losing is not an option or it may be the last match that people may see Pacquiao in the ring if he loses.
"This is a 'must-win' situation on Saturday night, and if we don't win this fight we have to consider maybe retirement," Hall of Famer coach Roach said in an exclusive interview with Telegraph Sport.
Roach told that he owes the Filipino boxer his career and that he was the best thing that came to his life. He believes that this will not be the last time fans will be seeing the fighting pride of the Philippines fight in the ring as he is confident that they will stay on top when the boxing match ends on Sunday.
"Manny's been the greatest guy in the world to me. It's the best thing that ever happened when he walked through my (Wild Card Gym) doors. That's why I built the gym, in case a Manny Pacquiao ever walked through the doors. . . . We've had a great run. I don't think it's close to being over. His work ethic is so great, he's training really hard, he's not missing a step anywhere."
During the first bout between the two boxers, Roach believed that the match should've went to Pacquiao's favor as he was winning the bout in almost every round. This will be the fuel, the combo of Roach and Manny that would drive them to beat Bradley this time and prove that the first match was theirs.
"If you think about it, you're going to feel sad because you're winning and then you lose the fight. But that's part of boxing and you have to accept that not all the time you're on the winning side. Sometimes you go to the loser's side. You have to offset that."

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley will re-enter the ring this weekend, two years on from their controversial bout in Las Vegas.

That night, Bradley defeated the 35-year-old Filipino after a controversial split decision which was subsequently booed by the crowd.

Since then, there have been calls for a re-match and the long-awaited WBO welterweight bout will finally happen on Saturday night.

And if you're wondering how you can catch the action, you are in the right place.

Here's all you need to know about the TV schedule for the Las Vegas bout.
When and where is it?

Pacquiao vs Bradley II takes place in the early hours of the morning this Sunday, April 13.

The action takes place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and is for Bradley's WBO welterweight title.
Where can I watch it?

The fight will be screened exclusively live on Box Nation. It is available for Sky subscribers at channel 437 or 490 for HD users.

Virgin Media customers should head for channel 546, while the fight will also be available to watch online at LiveSport.TV or via the Box Nation App.

What time does it start?

The programme begins at 2:00 am on Sunday morning, with the fighters set to enter the ring at around 4.00am.

Also on the card for the event is Raymuno Beltran's bout with Roman Martinez, while Bryan Vasquez takes on Jose Felix Junior.

The night is completed by the undercard IBO/WBA light-welterweight fight between Khabib Allakhverdiev and American Jessie Vargas.
Do I need to subscribe?

In order to watch this weekend's fight - and many more - you will have to subscribe to the channel for a month.

However, the unmissable period is available at a bargain £12 for Sky TV customers, with an £8 registration fee.

If you are a Virgin Media customer, you will have to pay just £10 a month with no registration fee

There is also no minimum fixed term and the next month promises to be a belter.

On the horizon is the eagerly-awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana, which also sees Amir Khan against Luis Collazo on the undercard.

Next weekend, Bernard Hopkins' light-heavyweight bout with Beibut Shumenov will be live on the channel.

If you want to subscribe, Box Nation advises people do so before fight night, with the lines expected to be busy right up until the bell rings.
But that's a lot of money can't I catch the action FOR FREE?

Of course, if you can't subscribe, then Mirror Sport is the place for you.

We will be providing a dedicated live blog, giving you all the information you need from Las Vegas. Be sure to tune in at around 2am, if you don't want to miss any of the action.

Manny Pacquiao v Timothy Bradley: rematch live

Top Rank promotes some of the biggest boxing events in the world, including the World Welterweight Championship rematch between “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao and undefeated two-division world champion Timothy Bradley. Greatness awaits these incredible athletes when they match up on April 12, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In addition to Pacquiao vs. Bradley 2, PlayStation will be featured in the June 7 match-up at Madison Square Garden between three-time-division champ Miguel Cotto and reigning middleweight champ Sergio Martinez. Additional events to feature PlayStation integration include the May 17 bout between Juan Manuel Marquez and Mike Alvarado at the Forum in Los Angeles.
The main event is right around the corner and we can’t wait to have the PlayStation brand highlighted in front of the millions of boxing fans around the world.

Two years after the controversial decision that shocked experts and fans, the pair will meet again in a WBO welterweight bout

It is an old boxing maxim that fighters talk more sense after a fight than before – and Timothy Bradley's contention this week that he beat Manny Pacquiao eight rounds to four when they met in June 2012, confirms that view.

Of course it is nearly two years after the event but Bradley's pronouncement comes on the eve of the rematch in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Maybe he needs to convince himself or it could be he believes the judges were right. But if Bradley – a fine champion who came through a gruelling examination by Ruslan Provodnikov to retain his WBO welterweight title – thinks he was twice as good as Pacquiao on the night, he is deluding himself.

"I thought Bradley nicked it," the excellent analyst Gary Logan said on Buncey's Boxing Hour on BoxNation – and this is a rare instance where I must disagree with "Shogun". It was closer than the baying mob reckoned (because they never keep a scorecard) but not that close.

Where Logan hits the spot is wondering if Pacquiao can go through the gears as he did in his pomp. He probably can't. He used to be a demented punch-thrower, after all, and he is 35 years old, with 19 of those spent as a pro. But he was special for much of that time, he is still good enough to beat Bradley, who can be one-dimensional, and he has the incentive to prove Timothy wrong.

There is significant mutual respect between them and neither indulges in trash talk. When Max Kellerman brought them together for a head to head, Bradley observed: "The hunger that he's looking for? It's no longer there. It's gone. It's gone. He's a tremendous fighter but I don't see it."

But Pacquiao scored the knockout final stare, embroidered with a biblical haymaker: "He who humbles himself will be exalted; he who exalts himself will be humbled."

Coming from a man who claims to have seen Jesus Christ, that is powerful stuff – or is Manny kidding himself too? Soon see.

For those who have forgotten, Jerry Roth gave the first fight to Pacquiao 115-113, while Duane Ford and CJ Ross scored it for Bradley by the same margin. Fans at the MGM booed the place down and 47 of the 48 ringside reporters polled gave it to Pacquiao, averaging a score of 117-111.

CJ Ross, who later thought that Saúl Álvarez deserved a draw with Floyd Mayweather in the same ring, has not judged a fight since that night last September. She will not be missed.

In 10 notable bouts over a decade, Ross was at odds with her fellow judges; more pointedly, in six of those contests she scored it a draw, which strongly suggests a lack of self-belief in her judgment.
Counting the cost

Ten is the double-digit boxers fear most – unless followed by several noughts on a contract. Hugo Fidel Cázares, who had been stopped three times in a splendid career, the last time in 1999, but never was counted out, heard the dreaded judgment in Belfast on Saturday night. Or did he?

In his 50th fight, at the age of 36, the former two-weight world champion shipped a perfect left hook from Carl Frampton and it sent him tumbling along the ropes to the floor, where he found refuge on his own knee, with his left arm resting on the lower rope. He looked up at Victor Loughlin, smiled at his corner and generally did not seem to be distressed. However, having just complained of a dig to his thigh with a theatrical hopping exhibition, Cázares, it has to be said, did not look like Belfast was where he wanted to be.

Could he have carried on? Certainly. He had recovered well enough when he rose on steady feet to argue volubly with the referee, Loughlin. But his rage did not last. Within a couple of minutes he was still smiling and applauding the winner, along with the 9,000 fans in the Odyssey Arena.

"Victor Loughlin is one of the best referees in the world," said Barry McGuigan, the Irishman's manager. "He was trying to protect the kid."

I have no argument with that but, going on the number of fingers Loughlin held up in front of the Mexican's face as he kept one knee on the canvas, the experienced Scot did appear to go from eight to 10. Bernard Dunne, the former world super-bantamweight champion working at the fight for BoxNation, suspected he might have done. "Did he skip 'nine'?" asked Dunne. "I don't know."

However, Steve Bunce made the point that "there was definitely a 'nine' from the timekeeper". Repeated replays were inconclusive.

As Frampton saw it: "He can complain all he wants. He said he misread the count but he didn't want to get up."

And that judgment is on the money. As much as Cázares complained, he did not give the impression his heart was in it. When fighters want to quit, they find a way. We do not have to always believe them.

It was a beautiful left hook around the southpaw jab, by the way; textbook boxing crafted by Frampton's trainer, Shane McGuigan, who, at 25, is two years younger than his fighter (I can't think of a similar arrangement at this level).
Split loves

So, Ricky Burns has split with Billy Nelson and, according to the rumours, James DeGale has left Mick Hennessy (he did not return calls). Frank Warren, meanwhile, is not best pleased that Nathan Cleverly has moved over to Matchroom to campaign as a cruiserweight. There are more moves in boxing than a Spassky-Fischer chess match.

Speaking of which, Anthony Joshua, whom Eddie Hearn confirmed will be on the Froch-Groves undercard at Wembley on 31 May, is working on his chess skills – although he has yet to accept a challenge from the Guardian.

Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley

So here we are, fight week. And a huge, relevant fight it’s going to be. Timothy Bradley is out to prove he really, truly, is a better fighter than Manny Pacquiao. As for Pacquiao, he’s out to prove he’s still The Man, a thrilling, domineering force of nature. Here, in short, is a bout where a lot – a whole lot – is at stake. Exciting stuff.
Of course, in less than a month from now, it will be fight week once again. Marcos Maidana will be out to do something no one thinks he can do – beat Floyd Mayweather. And Mayweather will be out to do…what, exactly? Beat Maidana? Sure. But few, if any, think that will be a difficult task. What else might Mayweather be going out to prove, then?
That’s hard to tell. And that’s what makes the upcoming Bradley-Pacquiao fight far more interesting than Mayweather’s upcoming meeting with Maidana in May. Sure, most believe Bradley actually lost to Pacquiao the first time, but the guy’s gone one to win a war with Ruslan Provodnikov before beating no less an icon than Juan Manuel Marquez, (a man who, by the way, literally put Pacquiao to sleep with a single punch).
Just look at Bradley’s eyes in pre-fight interviews. They’re on fire. He’s actually reminiscent of Mavin Hagler in the lead up to his 1985 war with Tommy Hearns. While it’s true the man they call Desert Storm is likely planning to engage Pacquiao in a cerebral manner on April 12th, there’s something about Bradley’s demeanor lately which suggests the best laid plans may indeed go out the window. All that criticism, all that abuse from fans, may make it too hard for Bradley to resist attacking the legend from the Philippians once they’re face to face in the ring.
And Pacquiao? Forget about it. The guy’s going out there to beat Bradley up, plain and simple. If PacMan has his way this Saturday, Bradley’s face will be a speed bag. The point here is that Bradley is not only capable of being a warrior, but that Manny Pacquiao is absolutely incapable of not being one. And that, boxing fans, makes for an interesting evening.
Yet, unlike Bradley, Floyd Mayweather shows little interest at all in becoming a warrior. The man is simply content to let his skill set carry the day. And, in case you’re wondering, that’s a good thing. No, it’s a great thing. It’s pretty much why the 37 year old Mayweather is able to fight like he’s 26. The man has honed his craft to the point where he can win while virtually taking no risks in the ring. That’s extraordinary. Actually, it may be unheard of. But it can also be uninteresting if Money isn’t in with the right opponent.
And there aren’t many people out there who feel Maidana is the right opponent to make Mayweather interesting at this point. The big question leading up to Bradley-Pacquiao is “who will win?” The big question leading up to Mayweather-Maidana is “can Maidana actually make it exciting?” Seeing as how both fights will cost fans a small fortune to watch, which one do you feel is worth the investment?
By the way, that question isn’t my way of leading fans to one fight over another. Maidana may shock the world on May 3d, after all, and countless individuals would love to see boxing history made live. My point is simply to put the focus on ways fighters and promoters try to get people’s hard earned money. The forces behind Bradley-Pacquiao are putting up a very interesting matchup. The forces behind Mayweather-Maidana are putting up the possibility of an unlikely event occurring. And that’s the tale of these two pay per views.
